1. What is a Serial Number?
- A Serial Number is a number that is generated when the program is first installed on a computer.
- It is unique to that computer and the activation code generated for that Serial Number will only work on that computer.

2. What is an Activation Code?
- An Activation Code is a unique code that is used to unlock the product on one computer. It will only work on the computer for which it was generated, and cannot be transferred or used on any other computer.

3. What is an Advance Purchase Code?
- An Advance Purchase Code is issued when you purchase a product.
- It is valid for that product only and will only work for Serial Numbers from that product.
- eg. An Advance Purchase Code purchased for SOLAS cannot be used to activate Ships' Routeing
- Having a valid Advance Purchase Code allows the generation of one Activation Code. If you need to use the product on additional computers you will need to purchase an Advance Purchase Code for each additional computer.

4. Why do I get the error message "Bad Activation Code" when I try to activate my product?
- Check you have entered the Activation Code correctly.
- Check the Activation Code being used corresponds to the Serial Number displayed by your computer. Please remember that every computer will generate a different serial number.
- If you are unsure check the activation code displayed in the email you will have received when generating the Activation Code.
- Check you are using the code you received from this website and not any other code.
- If the above do not solve your problem please email Websupport@existec.com stating the problem. Always quote, when available, the advance purchase code, serial number and activation code.

7. How do I activate the product?
- Go to the activate page on www.imoactivate.com
- Enter your Advance Purchase Code received from IMO or your distributor
- Copy Activation Code (you will also receive an email confirmation with this information)
- Go to product icon on desktop and enter Activation Code
- Product is now live

8. How do I re-install the product if my computer has to be replaced?
- Please contact Websupport@existec.com for re-installation details quoting your Advance Purchase Code.
You will be required to uninstall the product from the old computer before being able to activate the product on a new computer.

9. What support is provided for previous versions?
- It is IMO policy not to support previous versions of currently released products. When a new product is released, however, there is a three month transition period where previous products are supported. Please see the table below.
Note: IMDG Code for Windows is a special case with support for the previous version throughout the entire transition year.
